Strait Gold reports widespread copper values at Letra Rumi South

July 26, 2007

Strait Gold Corporation is pleased to announce the results of a spring 2007 detailed bedrock sampling and mapping program on its Letra Rumi South mineral concession in Peru.

Letra Rumi South was staked by the Company in 2006. It is south of and contiguous to the Culebrilla mineral concessions where the Company is scheduled to begin drilling precious metals targets in August, 2007.

The aim of the program at Letra Rumi South was to obtain systematic surface sample information from two gossan zones, as well as to continue preliminary mapping initiated in 2006. A total of 131 composite grab samples were collected for assay along 50-metre spaced lines at 10- to 20-metre spacing. The average copper value from these samples was 484 parts per million (ppm), including 42 samples containing more than 500 ppm copper, and 15 samples greater than 0.1% (1,000 ppm) copper.

Locally elevated precious metal values were also reported including nine samples with greater than 10 grams per tonne (g/t) silver and three samples with greater than 1.0 g/t gold. A strong arsenic-antimony-bismuth-copper association was observed with two samples being gold-enriched, possibly indicating local high sulphidation epithermal overprints.

Reconnaissance mapping reveals semi-conformable silica alteration, believed to be associated with the gossan zones, greater than 1,000 metres in strike length. Mineralized Zone 1, exposed at surface over an area measuring approximately 245 metres by 135 metres, is a weathered silica-sericite-sulphide altered gossan with locally fresh chalcopyrite-pyrrhotite-magnetite mineralization. Mineralized Zone 2, exposed at surface over an area measuring approximately 310 metres by 60-100 metres, is a strongly silica-sulphide altered gossan with secondary potassic (biotite).

A map showing the results of the detailed sampling and mapping at Letra Rumi South and photographs showing the gossans are available on the company's website, and can be viewed at www.straitgold.com/news/letra_rumi_images/.

"The presence of widespread copper values from the Letra Rumi South zones coupled with the existence of secondary potassic alteration is very encouraging from an exploration standpoint," said Ryan Weston, the Company's Exploration Manager. "We will continue to explore this prospect with the aim of discovering a significant copper resource."

Fugro Geophysics has been contracted to conduct an eight line-km, three-dimensional induced polarization (IP) survey and a 15 line-km ground magnetic survey over the two zones. The aim of the surveys is to define the continuation of the surface mineralization at depth which will aid in identifying drill targets for 2008.

Ryan Weston, M.Sc., P.Geo., is the Qualified Person for the purpose of this news release and is responsible for the 2007 exploration program at Letra Rumi South. Strait Gold carries out a program of quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) that includes insertion of blanks, standards and duplicates into the sample stream to verify results prior to dissemination. Sample preparation and analysis was carried out at ALS Chemex facilities in Lima, Peru, an ISO 9001:2000 registered laboratory. Samples were analyzed for gold by fire assay followed by atomic absorption spectroscopic (AAS) finish and by gravimetric finish for samples exceeding the upper limit of analysis (over limit). Copper and silver, together with 32 other elements, were assayed by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) following aqua regia dissolution.

About Strait Gold Corporation:

Strait Gold Corporation is a Canadian mineral exploration company active in Peru. It holds an option to earn a 100% interest in the 68-sq.-km Culebrilla Property (which includes the Letra Rumi south concession) located in Ancash Department, the same Peruvian jurisdiction that hosts the Pierina gold mine (Barrick Corporation), the Antamina base metals mine (BHP Billiton, TeckCominco, Xstrata Minerals and Mitsubishi) and numerous other, smaller mining operations. Culebrilla lies between Pierina to the south and Lagunas Norte, another Barrick gold mine, to the north.
